Data Protection

Applicable law

The provisions of the Data Protection Act apply to the processing of personal data by MeCard in connection with the use of its websites/applications.

Purposes and methods of data processing

Personal data collected with the contact forms are used by MeCard exclusively for contact information intended for users or for making contact. These data are not passed on to third parties.

Impersonal usage data are collected for the improvement of our websites/applications. They are analyzed as specified in the following section.

MeCard’s websites and applications are used by Google Analytics, a web analytics service from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics employs so-called “cookies,” text files that are stored on your computer and allow an analysis of your use of the website.

The text file information inherent in such use of the website or application (including the corresponding IP address) is transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA. Google uses this information for the analysis of the website or application, for the preparation of reports on website/application activities for the relevant administrators, and for the provision of further services in the context of website, application and Internet use. Google may forward such data to third parties to the extent required by law, or if the data is processed by third parties on Google’s behalf. In any case, Google does not connect the IP address with any other data in its possession.

By using the MeCard website or application, you signify your consent to Google’s processing of your data as described above.

About interest-based online advertising

Here we would like to provide comprehensive information on the topic of web-based online advertising. To view the data protection provisions adopted by MeCard, please refer to the following links.

We also collaborate with various operators and advertising networks. Advertising is optimized based on the user’s consumption behavior (detected and processed anonymously) and geared to the user’s interests. This allows advertising messages to be delivered that are more tailored to the interests of individual users and, overall, less randomly distributed advertising. To detect the user’s consumption behavior, a cookie is saved on the user’s computer. Cookies are small text files stored on the hard drive of the user’s computer that allow the user’s browser to be recognized, although without allowing personal identification.

What data are collected?
Information is collected about the user’s activities on this site (e.g. browsing habits, subpages visited, banners clicked, etc.).

Impersonal usage data
Regarding visits to websites or mobile applications that are part of its network, MeCard records only impersonal data, such as IP address, the last pages visited, the browser used, and the date and time. MeCard analyzes impersonal usage data to identify trends, process statistics, improve offers and products, or best meet customer needs.

Personal Data
Personal data means all information about an identified or identifiable person (natural or legal), such as first name, last name, appellation, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, and the like. Information not directly traceable to personal identity does not fall into this category.

MeCard does not collect or process personal data under the Federal Data Protection Act.

If you do not wish to receive advertising messages based on web usage, via the following link you can disable data collection (“opt-out”): www.youronlinechoices.com/ch-it

In general, you can prevent cookies from being saved on your hard drive by accessing your browser settings and selecting “do not accept cookies.” You can also set the browser to ask if the user agrees before saving cookies.

Finally there is the option to delete cookies once they are saved. Please refer to your browser manufacturer’s instructions for details. By not accepting cookies, website functions may be limited.
